👉 Best for: Acidity, bloating, heaviness, and summer indigestion.
🌾 Whole seeds or crushed
Coriander seeds have a hard shell, and how you treat it decides what you get.
Left whole and soaked overnight, they release slowly and give a mild, faintly sweet water — the version to drink on an empty stomach.
Lightly crushed before boiling, they give a stronger and much more aromatic infusion, but also release more of the bitter notes held in the shell. Crush them coarsely, not to a powder.
Worth knowing: coriander is one of the few digestive seeds Ayurveda classes as sheeta, cooling. That is exactly why it suits summer, where ajwain — heating in potency — would be the wrong seed to reach for.
